My name is Carol Acosta, and I am a traditional painter and illustrator from Tenerife (Canary Islands).
I paint in all traditional media: oils, acryclics, pastels, colour pencil, inks, gouache, etc. In the past years, I have published cover paintings and illustrations for magazines such as Marvellous Art Magazine, The Essential Herbal, Witches & Pagans, Sage Woman, Circle, the Myth & Lore zine, and most recently, the Inannanthology, by Eanna Press. My paintings are in private collections all over the world.
Magical Realism is a perfect term to describe my painting, because my spiritual experience of the world permeates each and every piece I paint. Botanical art, Fantasy art, and the arts of illustration/ comic/ illumination merge in my work, always with a great emphasis on detail and realism.
I am the the third generation of painters in my family, and while I am completely self-taught, a few years ago a became a graduate of the Old Masters Academy, something I enjoyed tremendously.
I am always open to collaborate with publishing houses and private customers – feel free to contact me at carolacosta.art@gmail.com.

Below, you can read the words of my publishers:
“Carolina Gonzalez is a consummate professional: her artwork is powerful, expressive, and magical, but always grounded and earthy. Her artwork beckons the reader into discovering the story for themselves. She’s also a dream to work with, taking direction well and always meets her deadline. I highly recommend her."
Anne Newkirk Niven, editor of BBI Media and publisher of Sage Woman magazine,
“Here at The Essential Herbal, we have been absolutely thrilled with the covers that Carolina has provided for us. Cover art is so important, as it is the first thing that piques the interest of the reader. We experienced an uptick in sales and interest due to her choice of subject and color. Her work conveyed much spiritual meaning, while still managing to please our varied audience from many different backgrounds – no small feat! It has been a joy to work with Carolina on these projects, and we highly recommend her.”
Tina Sams, editor and publisher of The Essential Herbal.
In November/December 2025, I was featured on Issue 20 of Goddessarts Magazine, as part of the Dark And Gloomy exhibition organized by the magazine's virtual gallery. You can read the feature interview that was published on the magazine's blog Clicking Here.
